Hi everybody

After a long time, I am trying to be on the blog, been pretty bad due to my health reasons, been busy with lot of new customers, in short business has been good! ;-). There have been tonnes of things that I want to share with you guys and the Tally community.

Let me start with the new features of Tally ERP Build 201. I know most of the users are using Build 189 right now, this new build has much awaited features in the TDS area. I am putting the list together for your reference.

Excise

• In case of purchases from dealers, the assessable value can be manually specified
• Partial CENVAT can be availed via a Journal Voucher
• The duty rate can be set to be effective from a specified date
• The same item can be specified multiple times in all transactions
• With numbering set to ‘manual’ for excise transactions, Import & Synchronisation will no
   longer throw errors

TDS

• Groups like Liabilities & Expenses, Fixed asserts, Current Assets & Investments are now
   enabled for TDS
• A "TDS not deducted" report is now available
• A "TDS computation – Party wise" report is now available
• TDS entry in Journals & Purchase Invoices, both with inventory details, are enabled
• TDS has now been enabled for all ledgers under 'Duties & Taxes'

Payroll

• The Pay sheet now correctly shows the values as entered in the Payroll Voucher and as
   displayed in the Payslip
• EDLI calculations are now supported
• The issue with PT becoming zero on recalculation with User Defined Pay heads has been
   fixed

VAT

• The same stock items used again will now compute Additional Tax / Cess correctly
• When an Invoice is altered, VAT computation will compute correctly for additions & alterations
• In purchases a common ledger can be used for multiple VAT classifications
• Stat 85 supports eVAT returns for the states of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala,
   Gujarat and Tamil Nadu
• With Stat 85 Rajasthan CST Returns are now available

Licensing

• Tally.ERP 9 – Silver Edition - now supports multiple instances to be executed from different
   folders on the machine. The Tally.ini file in each folder can be configured to access the
   license information from a common folder with the "LicensePath" parameter
• The issue of TallyAdmin occasionally crashing on Windows 98 has been fixed

Printing

• Issues with condensed text in the Dot Matrix mode has been fixed
• Alignment issues in Daybook & Sales Invoice have been fixed
• Lines that had been removed with Alt-R were still getting printed in Daybook. This has
   been fixed
• Issues with Form 16A have been fixed

Synchronisation

• Synchronisation was failing to import data when it encounters Stock Item for which Expiry
   date is enabled (and Mfg Date is not enabled) with opening balance present. This has been
   fixed
• Import / Synchronisation was failing to import earlier entered vouchers after enabling
   Mfg/Expiry date. This has been fixed

General

• The Info Panel now displays the correct information about the new release that is
   available
• Tally.ERP 9 now starts up faster
• The application will now prompt you to download the online help file if the same is not found
   in the application folder
• In specific installations of Windows 98, Tally.ERP 9 used to show a black screen.
   This has been fixed
• The filter option for batch name in batch wise reports now works as expected
• The decimal portion of the percentage field in voucher type class has been enhanced to four
   places from three

Remote Access (New!):

This deceptively simple capability to access your data across the world from another copy of Tally.ERP 9 is an exhilarating experience.!

Control Centre (New!):

Another new capability enables you to manage your license on your own (surrender, re-activate and so on) as well as easily distribute custom codes (TDL’s) and prevent their misuse.

Yes its here, the much awaited ERP version of Tally 9.0 . You can download the Tally ERP 9.0 release 1.0 Build 123 from Tally Solutions Web Site (http://www.tallysolutions.com/tallyerp9.shtml) . Your data will be automatically migrated by Tally ERP 9.0, you dont need your Tally Support personal to visit you for this purpose. All you have to do is take backup before migrating your data to Tally ERP 9.0 (although the migration feature itself will prompt you to take the backup, its safe to have a seperate backup as well).

Some important Licensing information

• Tally 9 and Tally 8.1 customers can move to Tally.ERP 9 for FREE. Also, Tally 9 / Tally 8.1 customers as on the date 11th March 2009, will be eligible for FREE Tally.Net subscription till 31st March 2010.
• Existing Tally 6.3 / Tally 7.2 customers updating to Tally 9 between the periods 12th March 2009 to 31st March 2009 are entitled for a FREE Tally.Net subscription till 30th Sept 2009.
• Fresh activation of Tally 9 taking place between 12th March 2009 and 31st March 2009 is entitled for a FREE Tally.Net subscription valid till 31st March 2010 from the date they update to Tally.ERP 9.

As we all know our government has reduced the Service Tax to 10.30 % from 12.36% since 24th Feb 2009.  This has given advantages to lot of service related companies, but now the biggest problem for them is all their accounting is assigned to 12.36% calculation, now what will they do? If you are a Tally user, dont worry about it. Tally has released a Statutory Update to solve this problem, you need to download this update only if you have enabled the Service Tax feature in Tally.

Some background information on the Service Tax Slabs

Previous Slabs

Service Tax    : 12%

Edu Cess        : 2%

Sec Edu Cess  : 1%

Total Tax        : 12.36%

Current Slab

Service Tax    : 10%

Edu Cess        : 2%

Sec Edu Cess  : 1%

Total Tax        : 10.30%

Since most of the Tally customers might have already using the in-built Service Tax feature of Tally. Now that this changed had come, dont worry about it, as Tally Solutions understand your problem and has released the update for reflecting this change. All you have to do is download the following Stat update either from here or from Tally Solution site.

Stats Update for Tally Release 2.x (including 2.11 ,2.12, 2.13 , 2.14) : Download for Tally 9.0 Release 2.x

Stats Update for Tally Release 3.x (including all builds of Beta release) : Download for Tally 9.0 Release 3.x

All these files are available in Tally Solution Site as well, these files belongs to Tally Solutions only, not created by us, we are just facilitating the download thats all.

Installation Instructions

Step 1: Shutdown Tally

Step 2: Copy the downloaded the file and save it to the Tally folder where application file resides.

Step 3: Windows will prompt you for replacing the existing stat.900 file

Step 4: Run Tally and open any existing Company

Step 5: The System will automatically import the contents of the new file

Step 6: Check the version information by pressing Ctrl + Alt + B from Gateway of Tally

Step 7: In the Calculator pane, you should get "Company Statutory Version 80"

Yes!! Tally ERP 9.0 is finally here!!!!

Now you might want to know how you can use it?

Dowload the Tally ERP 9.0 from the following location http://www.tallysolutions.com/tallyerp9.shtml

Make sure the version of Tally ERP 9.0 is greater than or equal to Release 1.0 Build 123.

Now you have the downloaded version of Tally ERP 9.0, do the following steps sequencially

Step 1: Take the backup of your current data

Step 2: Surrender your Tally License from Tally release 3.x or release 2.x

Step 3: Install Tally ERP 9.0 from the above location

Step 4: After Installation it will ask for Activatation of License

Step 5: Enter your Tally Registration Information like your Email ID, Serial No and Key.

Step 6: Make sure the E-Mail ID provided by you is a valid one, as Tally will send an Unlock key for the Tally ERP 9.0

Step 7: After you receive the Unlock Key in your email id, unlock Tally Activation.

Step 8: Once your Tally ERP 9.0 is activated, you can activate all your other Tally 9.0 Releases (including release 1.x release 2.x etc.,)

Step 9: Congragulations!!! Now you have Tally ERP 9.0 as well as Previous releases of Tally activated in one machine.

BAP - Business Advisory Program

The Business Advisory Program is an ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) initiative to help their members to explore new avenues of enhancing the scope of their services, thereby increasing the revenue opportunities. Hello all,

After so many requests from the Tally 9.0 Release 3.0 beta users we have released our TDL also compatiable to Release 3.0 format. As you all know Tally 9.0 Release is a complete revamp of the existing Tally 9.0. In Rel 3.0 beta Tally has been improved in terms of performance, data loading etc., to name a few.

In our product page we have a seperate download for Release 3.0 version. As you all know due to recent change in the Tally , the TDL component is a seperate file , User Interface loader is the main Tally9.exe file. There are also quite a few new changes in TDL format, due to this reason the TDL which needs to be integrated in for Release 3.0 Beta is in new format.

Each of our freeware product has a seperate download for Tally 9.0 Release 3.0 Beta, it will work for all Tally 9.0 Beta releases. If you are facing any problem, feel free to drop us a line, our support executives will be happy enough to help you by email.
